Information For Volunteers

Volunteering at Vallis Veg primarily involves horticultural work with our fruit and vegetable production (seed sowing, bed preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting etc). There may also be opportunities to work with livestock, machinery, carpentry, eco-building and general farm maintenance – please contact us for a further discussion if you wish.

The work and the British weather being what it is, we’d suggest that volunteers bring work clothes that they don’t mind getting wet and muddy. Warm and waterproof/windproof boots, trousers and jacket are recommended (the site can be very windy), as are gardening gloves. It’s easy to get sunburnt in the summer working outside all day so a sunhat is also a good idea. We may be able to lend some of these items to volunteers, but it’s best to bring your own if at all possible.
